Maigari Charges Boys’ Teams On Hard Work, Discipline
Acting President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari Thursday watched the national U-20 and national U-17 boys’ teams in training, telling that it is important they work hard and imbibe virtues of discipline, dedication and commitment to national service as they look forward to continental qualifying matches.

The NFF boss, who was in company with the Acting 1st Vice President, Chief Obinna Ogba charged the boys to hearken to the instructions and technical notes of their coaches in order to be able to overcome strong oppositions.

“You are young boys who have been at the World Cup before, and you will believe you have the experience to weather any storm. But there should be no over –confidence. You must be humble enough to listen to your coaches and take to their instructions. Football is dynamic and only the team that is well –prepared all the time will overcome when the chips are down”, Maigari told Sam John Obuh’s U-20 team, Flying Eagles at the practice pitch of the National Stadium, Abuja.

Close by, Monday Odigie’s U-17 boys, Golden Eaglets, were also at training and Maigari told them: “You are looking to play national team football for the first time, and I wish you all the best. But know full well that there is no substitute for hard work and discipline. These are the virtues that will make the difference when the Head Coach is compiling his list of which players will remain and which ones will be sent packing.

“You all know that our people are passionate about the game. Therefore it is important that whoever makes the team must be ready to give his all. You must be aware that at U-17 level, Nigeria has won the World Cup three times and finished second on two occasions. You have very high standards to match”.

The Flying Eagles will take on Guinea in the first leg of their 2011 African Youth Championship qualifying fixture, at the National Stadium, Abuja next week Saturday, while the U-17 boys will fly to Brazzaville for the opener to their African Junior Championship qualifying fixture against Congo at the end of August.
