Ogba: Why We Invited Foreign –based Players
1st Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Chief Obinna Ogba on Thursday explained the reason behind the invitation of some foreign –based players into the Super Eagles’ camp for the international friendly with Korea Republic on August 11.

On Wednesday, the NFF released a list of 35 players, 13 of them playing professionally abroad, to camp for the much –publicised knock-around with the South Koreans in Seoul.

Midfielder John Mikel Obi and forwards Ikechukwu Uche and Joseph Akpala, who missed the 2010 World Cup finals, return alongside goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, defenders Ayodele Adeleye, Elderson Echiejile and Danny Shittu, midfielders Haruna Lukman, Kalu Uche andDickson Etuhu and forwards Osaze Odemwingie, Obinna Nsofor and Obafemi Martins.

Ogba said: “We know the feeling of many Nigerians, which is like we should just leave out the old players from our plans for now.. But we had to call some of them because the Koreans have requested for a number of our World Cup players.

“As you can see, we have only called some of them, and we expect that the home –based will give them good fight for shirts ahead of the friendly match in Seoul”.

The NFF has called 22 locally –based players to camp, who are expected to arrive in the Federal Capital, Abuja on Friday and stay at the Summit Hotel, Kado.

Both teams played to a 2-2 draw in their clash inside the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban on June 22 at the World Cup finals.
