Muazu Lifts Eagles’ Hearts With Cash And Kind Words
Former Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Ahmadu Muazu on Saturday evening hailed the performance of the national football team, Super Eagles in their FIFA World Cup Group B match against Argentina, saying even though they lost, the players showed immense competitive spirit and did the nation proud.

“You have lost this game but I tell you, Nigerians are happy that you did your best and never stopped looking for that equalizer until the final whistle. As a Nigerian, I am quite happy that you played the way you did, and I have received feedback from home that our people are proud of you”, the former Governor said as he addressed the team in the dressing room shortly after the clash at the Ellis Park.

Alhaji Muazu added: “I am very sure that our dear President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) who watched the match live here was satisfied with your performance.

“The Argentines were somewhat the lucky team on the day, otherwise we would have carried the day given the efforts we put into the match”.

Former Governor Muazu then presented a cash gift of $50,000 to the team for the brave outing against one of the best teams in the world.

“This is very small money just to let you know that we are proud of you and that we believe you will go ahead and win your next two matches in order to make progress in the tournament”.

NFF President Sani Lulu Abdullahi who introduced the former State Chief Executive to the players, said the Nigerian boys had done their very best in the match and would win their remaining matches to qualify for the Round of 16 if they replicate the showing against their last two opponents.

“You have given your best, and there is no doubt that if we are able to repeat this performance against Greece and Korea Republic, we will get the three points in each of those matches”.
